I had never actively tried to lose weight before and I knew very little about nutrition, but I felt unhappy with my body fat percentage. I weighed myself whenever I happened to be at the gym, at different times during the day, and put all my attention on that number. Whatever weight I seemed to lose came back within days, and the conflicting advice online only made it more confusing.
Working with Dan was different from following a diet. I wasn't just told what to eat, he explained why each part was important. Understanding why helped me stay motivated. Having someone there to answer my random questions made the whole process much less confusing.
The moment it clicked was when I saw my weight gradually going down while I was still eating normally and training as usual. I didn't need to restrict myself or panic about daily fluctuations. After a while I started to see the difference in the mirror too.
My deficit phase is over now. I know roughly what to eat, and I don't feel like I'm on a diet. I've kept my weight since then without constantly trying to control it, which is probably the best part.

I’ve been working out for 10 years, and for 5 years I’ve wanted to lose some body fat. I already had lots of experience dieting, but I still got in my own way. I would look for quick solutions like crash diets or complete fasts, but when my willpower or focus ran out, I’d lose track and my weight would go back up. Dan helped me implement the diet principles I already knew all those years. Instead of skipping breakfast, or even lunch, I now eat 3-5 meals a day, and lose weight while still having space for chocolate and pizza.
Having someone else figure out the nutrition plan took a huge weight off my shoulders, and working with Dan allowed me to stay on track despite being busy and having a stressful day-to-day life.
I waited five years for the right moment, and it never came on its own. So if you've been putting it off, just do it. It didn't just make me more confident in how I look, but also in what I'm capable of.

I immediately noticed progress in the first few weeks, I could see the scale go down, which made me feel very motivated. But after a while, progress actually became normal, and the excitement wore off, and besides, my work-stress went up which took more of my attention. If I had been going at it alone, this would have been the moment where I could have silently quit. But I knew that Dan would be looking at my progress every Thursday, and he knew that I made this commitment to myself, and that was enough to keep me going even when it got boring.
The deficit itself was not restrictive. It felt very doable and I felt good doing it. I get full faster now, with less food, I feel healthier, and I built muscle during the deficit. My t-shirts used to be tight and now they're loose.
